Dr Sarah Atkinson

BSc, PGCE, MSc, PhD

Educational Psychologist

I have over 20 years’ experience working as a Local Authority Educational Psychologist (EP) and more recently as a private EP.

I am based in the East Midlands and work with early years settings, schools, colleges and universities both locally and online across the UK.

 During this time, I worked in a range of areas including:

  • Inclusive educational practice

  • Transfer and transition across pupil’s educational career

  • Peer mentoring projects/programmes

  • Raising the achievement and participation of Children in Care

  • Applied Behavioural Analysis within educational settings 

Alongside my EP role, I worked for the University of Nottingham as an Academic and Professional Tutor delivering initial training competences in the following areas:

  • Generic study and scholarship associated with tutor role

  • Convenor of training modules on the Doctorate of Applied Educational Psychology programme

  • Convenor of 3rd year Undergraduate Module in Educational Psychology

  • Promoting Emotional Well Being in Schools

  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy

  • Research supervision

  • Problem-solving in situations where people feel stuck
